DIRECTIONS FOR USE/APPLICATIONS & DOSAGE RATES : Before cleaning with Careclean Buffer it is recommended to prewash with hot water.
Never dilute BUFFERCLEAN with seawater of river water. For solutions always use freshwater.
HAND SPRAYING METHOD
1. Apply 1 litre undiluted BUFFERCLEAN per 10 Ltr of Water
2. Let the cleaner penetrate for 30-45 minutes
3. Wash down with freshwater and check results preferably with a wall wash test kit.
NOTE: Heat is achieved by the use of a heat exchanger, steam coils or live steam injection. The advantages of this method are that heat and chemicals are recovered and can be used again to clean additional tanks. It is important to use fresh water only. The use of river- or seawater will cause a reaction which decreases the efficiency of the solution for tank cleaning.
Recirculation Method – Highly Effective & Recommended Tank Cleaning Technique:
1. Make a 10% solution in freshwater in a slop (solution) tank.
2. Heat the solution to a maximum of 60.C.
3. Wash tanks by recirculation for 60 minutes.
4. Usually one solution is used for washing 3-6 tanks
5. Rinse with freshwater and check the results
6. For chloride-free cleaning and passing chloride test use chloride-free De-Ionised Water for the final rinse.
Recirculation Method Recirculation is . In this method a chemical solution is pumped via a closed loop through a mechanical tank washing machine.
The Recirculation Method is a highly effective and industry-recommended technique for cleaning tanks, pipelines, and other enclosed systems. This method involves continuously pumping the cleaning solution—such as a neutral pH or alkaline tank cleaner—through the system in a closed loop, ensuring thorough removal of contaminants, residues, oils, and deposits from all internal surfaces.
Recirculation ensures maximum contact time, uniform distribution, and minimal chemical wastage, making it ideal for cleaning chemical storage tanks, marine tanks, heat exchangers, and process vessels.
Key Benefits of the Recirculation Method:
-
Efficient & Uniform Cleaning of all internal surfaces
-
Reduces manual cleaning effort and downtime
-
Minimizes chemical consumption through reuse in the loop
-
Maintains controlled temperature and concentration for optimal performance
-
Suitable for large tanks, complex pipework, and hard-to-reach areas
Recommended for Use With:
-
Neutral pH Tank Cleaners for sensitive coatings
-
Alkaline/solvent-based degreasers for heavy-duty cleaning
-
Ideal for food-grade, pharmaceutical, chemical, and marine applications
Buffer Cleaner PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS:
1. Appearance : Clear Liquid
2. Specific gravity: 1.0
3. Flash Point : None
4. pH-value at 20 C : 5.5
Recommended DOSAGE
Spraying 10 % in freshwater
Recirculation 10 % in freshwater
Buffer Cleaner will in a cost effective way remove lead, hydrocarbons, chloride, sulphides etc. from the pores of zinc silicate and epoxy coatings. It has been designed with a pH value of 5.5 for safe application on these types of cargo tank coatings.
The ordinary cleaning method with a synthetic soap takes a long time and is insufficient in removing the described contaminants. A week acid solution in combination with synthetic soap gives a much better cleaning result.
BUFFER CLEAN is used as a final cleaning procedure when the cargo tanks have to be completely free of lead, chlorides, sulphides or MTBE prior to loading of special high purity cargoes.
Buffer Cleaner – Cost-Effective Deep Pore Cleaner for Zinc Silicate & Epoxy Coatings
Buffer Cleaner is a powerful and cost-effective solution specially formulated to remove contaminants such as lead, hydrocarbons, chlorides, sulfides, and other impurities embedded deep within the pores of zinc silicate and epoxy coatings. Designed for industrial applications, it ensures the surface is thoroughly cleaned and decontaminated, helping maintain coating integrity and enhance long-term performance.
By penetrating deep into the porous structure of protective coatings, Buffer Cleaner prepares surfaces for further treatment or repainting, preventing adhesion failures and corrosion under coatings.
Specialized marine cargo-tank cleaning and conditioning chemical, not a general-purpose cleaner. The product is designed for zinc-silicate coated tank surfaces and uses a mildly acidic buffered formulation.
BUFFER CLEANER – RXSOL-20-2032-210
Also Known As: Tank Clean Buffer, Careclean Buffer
Product Category: Marine Tank Cleaning Chemical
Application: Zinc-Silicate & Epoxy Coated Cargo Tanks
Product Description
RXSOL Buffer Cleaner – RXSOL-20-2032-210 is a specialized marine tank cleaning and conditioning chemical developed for the effective cleaning of zinc-silicate and compatible epoxy-coated cargo tank surfaces.
The formulation is based on a controlled, mildly acidic cleaning system combined with detergents and surfactants. It is particularly useful as a final cleaning treatment where cargo tanks require removal of traces of lead, hydrocarbons, chloride, sulphide and other difficult residues before loading sensitive or high-purity cargoes.
The product is designed to provide effective cleaning while being suitable for use on properly maintained zinc-silicate tank coatings. Manufacturer information for the comparable Careclean Buffer describes a buffered pH of approximately 5.5 for application on zinc-silicate coated tank surfaces.
Key Benefits
-
Designed for zinc-silicate coated cargo tanks
-
Helps remove traces of lead contamination
-
Effective against iron stains and discoloration
-
Helps remove chloride and sulphide residues
-
Useful for removing residual hydrocarbons
-
Suitable as a final tank-cleaning treatment
-
Mildly buffered acidic formulation
-
Non-flammable formulation
-
Suitable for marine cargo-tank cleaning operations
Typical Applications
Buffer Cleaner can be used following cargoes such as:
-
Leaded gasoline
-
Gasoline blends
-
MTBE-containing cargoes
-
Naphtha
-
Hydrocarbon products
-
Other cargoes where traces of lead, chloride or sulphide must be removed
The product is particularly useful where tanks need to be prepared for specialty chemicals, high-purity cargoes or subsequent sensitive cargoes.
Application Procedure
Before applying Buffer Cleaner, it is recommended to prewash the tank with hot fresh water.
Spray Application
Prepare a solution using approximately:
1 part Buffer Cleaner : 10 parts fresh water
Apply the diluted solution to the tank surface by suitable spraying equipment. Allow adequate contact time and agitate or wash as required, followed by thorough rinsing.
Recirculation Cleaning
Buffer Cleaner can also be used through a tank recirculation system. The cleaning solution is circulated through the tank washing equipment to improve contact with contaminated surfaces.
Use fresh water only for dilution. Do not dilute with seawater or river water, as dissolved salts and other impurities can adversely affect the cleaning process.
For difficult contamination, the cleaning procedure may be repeated after inspection.
